man idk. feels weird choosing for myself. i guess neutral good. or, like, i try to be.
[ The things he does don't always turn out for the good, but he does try to do the right thing. ]
i bet she'd love it. you could always hit up bryn, too. she seems like she'd make it fun. her and arya maybe and you and barry and ray makes a pretty decent group. i'll look in the library next time i'm there see if they've got any books.
[ Yes, Eddie, there are books involved. Lots of books. ]
sometimes you've gotta break a couple laws to keep everyone safe.
(but i'm not saying that's a no to the handcuffs 😉 )
you definitely should ask, i bet she'd love it.
they're more like guidebooks. you don't need to read them, i just need to have them if i'm gonna put a campaign together. the dm sort of has to know everything and then they plan out a whole adventure for the players to go through, and where there will be enemies and treasure chests and villages and stuff. then if the players have questions, they can just ask the dm. and if they're not sure of the answer, that's where the books come in.
You have a point. It's not like I didn't break a few helping Barry and you guys out.
(Any time, babe.)
I will. I'll message her once I get things figured out with Ray. And you're sure you'd be willing to do the DM thing for us? I bet you'd be really good at it, you have that kind of mind, and you're a quick thinker.
So what kind of information to the books have if you have to refer to them? Like made-up town names and stuff?
yeah, but i think for you it's like, going against your nature. nothin' wrong with that.
😍 🙏 ⛓🔥
i'm willing. i've got experience doing it and i want you to have fun with it.
town names and stuff's easy, it's more like, what spells different classes of characters can learn, level ups, the stats on different monsters. like when you're a dm you have to respond to the choices the players make and sometimes (most of the time) they don't follow the route you planned and you have to adapt.
Oh so you're kind of playing the monsters and stuff instead of a character? That's pretty cool. Ray said he thought you'd be a great DM, though, and I definitely agree from the sounds of it.
yeah, i would design the plot, basically, and the obstacles, the items you find. pretty much it's like playing god. except once the game is started i have to play by the rules, too. which can lead to some pretty funny stuff.
like this one time in college a couple science-type guys in my dorm actually wanted to play so we all got together one evening and they spent like an hour and a half rolling characters only for this one guy to get in a bar fight with a kobold - that's like, a kind of goblin basically - and he wanted to throw a molotov cocktail at it. and like, i told him not to. but he was really insistent, so he did and i rolled for how much like fire damage to the bar it would cause, and got a natural twenty and they all had to roll to get OUT of the fire and no one got over a three so their characters all died like ten minutes into the campaign.
so what kinda character you think you're gonna want to be?
That sounds like such a pain, but I probably would've been laughing for an hour, because that's hilarious.
I'm not really sure. What kind of characters are there? It might be kind of fun to play a character who's a hero but kind of a jerk. You know? It's medieval, right? So probably a knight or something??
there's a whole lot, like thieves and wizards and BARDS who basically just go around singing at monsters (ok they do more than that). depends what version we're gonna be playing - i'm gonna head to the library and look for those books and we can go over the options tonight if you want.

But you need a dungeon master. And more people.

i can be dungeon master if no one else wants to. i ran a couple campaigns in college and i'm sure it's like riding a bike.

Ray told me about it at the gym because he said I was Lawful Good and I had no idea what he meant.
Does Barry play D&D???
no subject
no, i kept saying he and caitlin should give it a try but every time we were gonna our schedules got messed up by metas making trouble, the usual.

That sucks. I wonder if we could find someone else who'd want to try. I wonder if Arya would like it. We talked about dragon characters one time.

Oh, yeah, Bryn would be a lot of fun to have at D&D. Should I ask her if she's interested?
Wait. They make books for this? Maybe I should read them before we start? Are they instruction books?

Wait I could play a wizard, like with a wand and stuff? Who sings at monsters?
Wait do you play a bard? That seems like a thing you'd play. And if you play a bard, do you have to sing when you're doing the roleplaying part?
Okay. Do you want me to come help look?

no, no singing for the players. that'd be hilarious tho.
sure. see you there. 😘
