No, not a complete stranger but we'd only spoken once before? And met once in person so I could show him some magic things from home. Let him hold my sword. So, that awkward pre-friendship-or-whatever phase?
Either way, yes, it's...definitely more familiar than I get with a new acquaintance while still sober.
Yes, my world has magic. I have some paper with me that self-delivers, but it only seems to work here when I'm in the same space as the recipient which...basically defeats the purpose, especially with these devices.
I'm not sure what you mean by drone but yes, you can fold it up like a little airship and it flies along to whomever it's addressed to. Some of the better enchantments have it disappear and then appear in front of the person, but mine aren't that good.
We have lots of magic in my world. The Asarians, they're incredible with it. More methods and schools of magic than I could even count, honestly. I know a lot of what it can do but I couldn't even begin to explain HOW any of it works.
drone's a machine that flies by itself, without a pilot.
can everyone do it, and asarians are just better? or is it like, tied to genetics? can everyone do it? can people do it from when they are born or are we talking about a magic emerges at puberty type sitch? is there a certain amount people can do in a day or in a lifetime before they run out, or is it kind of unlimited?
[ ....He is clearly interested. ]
not knowing the how makes me itchy but sometimes that's just the way things go. where i come from, no one can do magic, but there're people called metahumans who have abilities. some of the things they can do are... wild, and we don't know how they do it. we just have to accept that they can.
Everyone has the potential to do it, not just Asarians. However, for Asarians, magic isn't just a hobby or a job, it's not even just a lifestyle it's LIFE for them. Having magic in their lives is like breathing, even the ones who can't actually do magic.
Magic does tend to run in family lines which is part of why the family clans of Asaria are so powerful, and probably part of why they like to keep to themselves, but it's entirely possible for someone with parents who can't use magic to have the ability as well. To hear the Asarians talk about it, you're either born with magic or you're not, but learning how to use it and what methods work best for a person is a huge process and how it manifests and when is part of that. Apparently.
I might have to add magic primers to my list of things to try and find here for you, it would probably have better answers on the hows and whys.
But I'll tell you what. Meet me for coffee or a drink or something, and I can tell you about the kind of magic I DO know really well, in exchange for you telling me about your metahumans?
[ Yes, Cisco knows that is probably a better idea than talking about all this via text. Plus, that way he can ask her to demonstrate something, maybe. ]

Sending inappropriate messages to best friends and colleagues still wins that award as well, I think.
And he was taken aback, understandably. I haven't gotten to know anyone here well enough to be THAT forward, not yet anyway.

so it was a complete stranger?
mannn... from 0 to nipples in one text is sure a weird way to make someone's acquaintance.

[Drunk and having fun is another story, okay?]

[ There would be a lot more question marks there, except Cisco has gotten more used to the idea of magic being a thing since he arrived here. ]
yeah for real.
[ Drunk is definitely another story ]

[ Cisco you are not good at talking to people from other worlds sometimes. ]
Definitely no magic where I'm from. Mostly. Maybe a little tiny bit, but nothing that anyone knows about, and nothing that makes much sense to me.
