[ Cisco doesn't know much about Merle, but he thinks he probably wasn't happy about it. Nobody who'd spent 100 years with Lup could be happy about the idea of her staying dead. But he doesn't doubt Taako, that Merle had chosen his own children over Lup, quickly and decisively enough that it must have hurt Taako a great deal. ]

[ There's not a whole lot else TO say. This isn't something Cisco's going to be able to fix. All he can do is listen, and let Taako know that somebody's on his side. ]

[Cisco, of course, manages to hit at the crux of the issue. Taako has a feeling this would be easier to deal with if he had Barry or Davenport here, two people who were hurt by Lucretia as much as he was, who might hold onto that anger for longer than Lup or Magnus did.

It's stupid how much he misses Barry. Not as much as Lup must miss him, but it still hurts more than he thought it ever would.]

The world was ending, we were all arguing over how to stop it, it was a huge mess. I dunno what comes next

but whatever it is, i don't think there's a wrong way to deal with the lucretia stuff

they can't forgive her for what she did to you. only you can do that.

[ Cisco hesitates, before he adds the next bit. He's not sure if he should, if it will be crossing over some kind of invisible line. But it's late, and his heart is aching for Taako, so he writes: ]

since things have calmed down between you two i've been talking to her more but
it's not like it never happened.

[It's not crossing a line. If anything, Taako sits there and reads the text and tries not to get too fucking emotional about it, because that's exactly what it felt like. It felt like Merle and Magnus and Lup just forgot what happened, that it didn't matter enough, how Lucretia fucked him up. So it's a lot, for Cisco to say the opposite.]

[It's not a whole lot of words, but that's because he's busy fighting down the tightness in his throat and the threat of tears. This was probably a dumb idea, since now he's all worked up about this, but... he feels better, a little less twisted up. And that's something.]

[ Cisco speaks Taako well enough by this point to know that sometimes, less means a whole lot more. ]

[ He's careful to phrase it that way, rather than the more honest are you sure you don't need me to be near you so you aren't alone right now. Give Taako some emotional deniability. ]

and you know it's a crime to go to a 24 hour diner while the sun's up so
it could be a perfect opportunity
get some milkshakes and see if they're everything they're cracked up to be

[He doesn't trust himself to be in public, even if it's somewhere quiet, even with Cisco.

So he offers a compromise, instead:]
