i know this might sound weird, but the parallels aren't impossible at all - in fact, in my limited experience, they're totally normal. what we're dealing with here is obviously two very close parallel versions of reality. you die in one of them, and ashley in the other. so, technically, anyone you met here who says you died on the mission, ISN'T your friend. they're a version of that person from another world. their doppelganger. pretty freaky, i know, but you get used to it.
